華道 草月流　Ikebana – Sogetsu

華道(草月流)を習い始めて数年が経つ。

習い始めたきっかけはコロナ禍で家の掃除をしていた時に祖母の花ばさみが出てきたから。

母や祖母がみんな何かしら日本文化を習っていたのでいつか私も習いたいと思っていた。

習い始めて本当に良かった！！！

そして草月流で良かった！！草月流は個性を重視する流派なのでお花だけでなく野菜や果物を使ってもOK。

異質素材を使ってもOK。だからこそ生ける人の特徴が作品にも現れるのでとても面白い。

そして私は先生のお稽古がとっても好きなのです。

習ったことは忘れないようにメモしておこう✏️🗒️🤓

• 人は背が高いものと花に目がいくのです。
• 華道は立体造形
• ウエストは細い方がカッコいい

　一旦今回はこんなところで。

一つ目の「人は背が高いものと花に目がいくのです。」

作品をパッと見たときに人間は「背が高いもの」と「花」に目がいく。

だから例えば「水を見せる」がテーマの時に綺麗なお花があるからといってそれをいっぱい使っていると人の視線は「水」ではなく「花」にいってしまう。

「ここを一番見てほしい！」と思っても背の高い花や枝があると最初はそこに目がいってしまう。

二つ目の「華道は立体造形」

ついつい前から立った状態で生けるので後ろや足元がスカスカになってしまう。

でも展覧会ではお客さんが色々な角度から見るのでどの角度から見ても美しく見えるように生けなくてはならない。

この辺りの話はファッション、メイク、ヘアスタイルと似ている部分があると思う。

例えば前から見たら普通のワンピースだけど後ろにリボンが付いている、ざっくり開いている服は角度によって異なる魅力がある。

髪型もぺったりしているよりも立体的な方が頭の形が綺麗に見える。

逆に写真を見ていいなと思った洋服が着てみるとなんか違う、ということもあるが、やはり３次元のものを２次元で確認するのは難しいと思う。

お稽古の時にいつも素敵に生けている先輩がいて、その作品の写真を見ると必ず「実物の方がもっともっといいのに〜！」と思う笑

最後三つ目「ウエストは細い方がカッコいい」。

横長に口の空いた花器を使う時に、口全体から花を出すのではなくその一部からお花が出て全体に広がるような生け方をするとグッとカッコいい作品になる。

確かに人間でもウエストが引き締まっている人はカッコよく見える！

It has been several years since I started learning ikebana in the Sogetsu style.

What first inspired me to begin was finding my grandmother’s flower scissors while cleaning the house during the COVID pandemic.

My mother and grandmother had all practiced some form of traditional Japanese culture, so I had always hoped that one day I would study one as well.

I’m really glad I started learning it!!!

And I’m so glad I chose the Sogetsu!! Since Sogetsu places great importance on individuality, it’s okay to use not only flowers, but also vegetables and fruits.

It’s even okay to use unconventional materials. That’s exactly why the personality of the arranger appears in each piece, which makes it so fascinating.

And I absolutely love my teacher’s lessons.

I should make notes so I won’t forget what I’ve learned ✏️🗒️🤓

• People’s eyes are naturally drawn to tall elements and flowers.

• Ikebana is three-dimensional art.

• A slimmer waist creates a more striking and elegant composition.

For now, I’ll leave it here for today.

The first point: “People’s eyes are naturally drawn to tall elements and flowers.”

When people first look at an arrangement, their eyes are instinctively drawn to tall elements and flowers.

So, for example, if the theme is “showing water,” but you use lots of beautiful flowers simply because they are pretty, people’s attention will go to the flowers rather than the water.

Even when you want people to focus on a specific point, tall flowers or branches will often attract the eye first.

The second point: “Ikebana is three-dimensional art.”

When arranging flowers, it’s easy to work while standing in front of the piece, so the back and the lower areas can unintentionally end up looking empty.

But at exhibitions, viewers look from many different angles, so the arrangement has to be beautiful from every perspective.

I think this idea is actually similar to fashion, makeup, and hairstyles.

For example, a dress may look simple from the front, but have a ribbon on the back or a dramatic open-back design, giving it a completely different charm depending on the angle.

Hairstyles are similar too — hair with volume and dimension often makes the shape of the head look more beautiful than hair that lies completely flat.

On the other hand, sometimes clothes that look wonderful in photos feel somehow different when you actually wear them. It really makes me realize how difficult it is to judge three-dimensional things through two-dimensional images.

There’s a senior student in my lessons whose arrangements are always stunning, and every time I see photos of them, I think, “The real thing is so much better in person!” lol

And finally, the third point: “A slimmer waist looks more elegant.”

When using a long, horizontally shaped vase, instead of spreading flowers across the entire opening, arrangements often look much more sophisticated when the flowers emerge from just one section and then spread outward.

It’s true for people too — a defined waistline tends to create a more elegant silhouette!

There are still so many things my teacher has taught me, so I want to keep recording them here on my blog so I won’t forget 🌟
